Our History

Dawood Hercules Corporation is the largest private energy provider in Pakistan. The Group in 2008, initiated its renewable energy division under Dawood Lawrencepur Limited to create sustainable energy that is dependable and affordable to meet Pakistan’s growing energy demand. The first wind power project then paved the way for Group’s interest towards other sustainable energy ventures.

Reon Energy Limited was started in 2012 with a clear focus on providing solar energy solutions. Solar with its short set-up time and abundance has proven to be a an effective solution for the country’s economy. Today, Reon is the leading EPC (Energy, Procurement and Construction) company in Pakistan that delivers cost effective and environment friendly solutions.

Board Of Directors

Shahid Hamid Pracha


Shahid Pracha chairs the Board of Reon Energy Limited, Dawood Lawrencepur Limited, and Tenaga Generasi Limited. In addition to Engro Corporation Limited, he is a Director on the Boards of Engro Fertilizers Limited, Hub Power Company Limited, Engro Powergen Limited, Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited, and e2e Business Enterprises (Private) Limited. He recently retired as the Chief Executive of Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited. Shahid Pracha is a graduate electrical engineer from the University of Salford, UK.

Mujtaba Haider Khan

Chief Executive Officer

Mujtaba Khan is the Chief Executive Officer of Reon Energy Limited. He has previously served as the Head of Strategy for Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited and as the Head of Strategy and Transformation for BT Fleet, a wholly-owned subsidiary of British Telecom in London. Mujtaba has worked for BT in a range of commercial and transformation roles including as Project Director in Global Services Division and as the Head of Procurement for the UK wide fiber roll-out program.
Mujtaba holds his BS in Computer Systems Engineering and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. His area of expertise includes Growth Strategy, Startups, and Cost Transformation.

Samad Dawood


Samad Dawood is a graduate in Economics from University College London, UK and a Certified Director of Corporate Governance from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance. He is Chairman of Engro Foods Limited and Director on the Boards of Reon Energy Limited, Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited, Dawood Lawrencepur Limited, The Hub Power Company Limited, Engro Corporation Limited and Engro Fertilizers Limited. Samad is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization, Pakistan Chapter.

Javed Akbar


Javed Akbar has undergraduate and post-graduate qualification in Chemical Engineering from the United Kingdom, and has over 40 years of experience in fertilizer and chemical business with Exxon, Engro and Vopak. He has managed Exxon and Engro fertilizer plants and their expansions in Pakistan, worked in Exxon’s Chemical Technology divisions in USA and Canada, and served as Human Resources Manager in Exxon Pakistan. He was part of the buyout team when Exxon divested its stake in Engro.
Prior to his retirement in 2006, he was Chief Executive of Engro Vopak Terminal Limited, a joint venture between Engro and Royal Vopak of Holland. After his retirement, he established a consulting company specializing in analyzing and forecasting petroleum, petrochemical and energy industry trends and providing strategic insight. He is on the boards of Reon Energy Limited, Engro Fertilizers Limited, Engro Powergen Limited, Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited, Engro Vopak Terminal Limited, and Javed Akbar Associates (Private) Limited. He also serves on the panel of Energy Experts Group and environmental experts of Sindh Environmental Protection Agency. He joined the board in 2010.

Jahangir Piracha


Jahangir Piracha is currently working as Chief Executive Officer of Engro Vopak Terminal Limited and Engro Elengy Terminal Limited. He was previously the Chief Executive Officer for Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited. He has also served as the Vice President – Manufacturing and General Manager, Human Resource and Coporate Services at Engro Polymer & Chemicals Ltd; and as the Production Manager and HSE Manager at Engro Fertilizer Limited. Prior to joining Engro, he has worked for ICI Pakistan Ltd.
Jahangir has 25 years of corporate experience in functions like Manufacturing, Human Resource and Procurement. He received his bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. He is a director on the board of Reon Energy Limited and EPQL.
