PBIT participates in Pak-China Business Forum 2016Lahore (Staff Reporter): The Pak-China Business Forum 2016 kicked off on Friday 19th March. The forum, being held at the Lahore Expo Center is the biggest Pak-China Business Forum to date, with over 700 delegates participating – which includes 400 Chinese companies and 300 Pakistani companies.
The forum has been organized by COMSATS Institute for Information Technology. The forum consists of stalls of various Chinese companies from various sectors and is an opportunity for Pakistani businessmen to meet their Chinese counterparts and hence increase trade between the two countries. The PBIT also had a stall present at the expo center that was accompanied by various advisers. The PBIT is playing a roll as the facilitator for the various Chinese companies and is always present to help them out in any way possible. PBIT team arranged and facilitated B2B meetings and meetings with various governmental organizations on behalf of numerous Chinese companies present at the Expo.This conference aims to increase bilateral trade with China and to help introduce middle and small sized Pakistani businessmen with their Chinese counterparts. This forum falls under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and this will be a huge boost for Pakistan’s economy. The conference hopes to pave the way for a lasting friendship and increased trade relations with China.
Ufone pledges to support Earth Hour 2016Lahore (Staff Reporter): Ufone has pledged to support Earth Hour 2016 in association with WWF Pakistan as part of its persistent quest for corporate social responsibility and environment sustainability. Ufone as part of its energy efficient belief has observed the Earth Hour. In doing so, it has urged its consumers to follow suit. WWF’s Earth Hour is a people’s movement that has gained momentum over the years as it engages all stakeholders of the globe to turn off non-essential lights for an hour. It was notably started in Sydney, Australia on March 31, 2007 when more than 2.2 individuals and 2,000 businesses switched their lights off for an hour, this later spread across countries.The movement has inspired individuals from more than 7000 cities across the world to voice their concerns about climate change and accordingly channelise efforts for the cause, thereby making it the largest voluntary movement witnessed in history.“The world is changing at a fast pace and demands our attention as far as environment sustainability is concerned. Cotton cultivation should be completed before mid-MayFAISALABAD (APP): The agriculture experts have advised growers to immediately start the cultivation of cotton and complete it before mid May to get bumper yield. A spokesman for the agriculture extension department told here on Saturday that farmers should cultivate approved varieties of cotton seeds over maximum space because its production not only plays a pivotal role in meeting food and cloth requirements of people but it also helps growers in mitigating financial issues. Among the approved varieties of cotton include Torjan-1, MNH-886, VH-259, BH-178, CIM-599, CIM-602, Fh-142, IR NIAB-824, IUB-222, Saiban-201, Sitara-11, MKZ-181, Torjan-2, CA-12, FH-114 and CIM-598. International Finance delegation visits FPCCILahore (Staff Reporter): A delegation of International Finance Corporation-World Bank headed by Mr. Peter Alex Cook, visited Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pakistan on Saturday. The Regional Chairman FPCCI ,Mian Rehman Aziz Chan highlighted various issues related to development of SME sector e.g. importance of Industry-academia linkages, SME Policy, SME support fund, and Development of Special economic Zones for Small and Medium Enterprises. He emphasized the need for development of Agro Based SMEs and said value addition units for Kinnow, Mangos and Rice sector can bring huge foreign exchange in the country. The Regional Chairman underlined numerous suggestion and recommendation including tax reform, accountability of government institutions. He said it’s encouraging to see IFC is focusing on SME and Cluster development which will definitely help in building prosperous economy. Mr. Peter Alex Cook, Consultants World Bank said Pakistan is an important Country and World Bank also appreciated role of FPCCI for facilitating Business Community, especially SME Sector of Pakistan. He said World Bank is focusing to improve investment climate of Pakistan and for this they had strategy to get suggestions and proposals from Government, all Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Associations of Pakistan.He said Pakistan had made attractive investment policies, which provided a lot of investment opportunities that are prompting International entrepreneurs to come and invest in Pakistan.
